Coach Ted Owens to Appear at Union for Free Event
Former KU men’s basketball coach Ted Owens will be appearing in a free event at the Kansas Union on November 3rd. He will be discussing his coaching career and his new book At the Hangup: Seeking Your Purpose, Running the Race, Finishing Strong. KU All-American Bud Stallworth will introduce Owens.
Owens began his coaching career at KU in 1960 as an assistant coach under Dick Harp. He went on to become the head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks between 1964 and 1983. He has more wins in Allen Fieldhouse than any other coach (206), won six conference championships and twice took the Jayhawks to the NCAA Final Four. He was also named Big Eight Coach of the Year five times and as well as National Coach of the Year in 1978 by Basketball Weekly.
A reception and book signing will follow the event. Coach Owens will sign one other item with the purchase of his book.
A drawing for an autographed 2013-2014 Men’s Basketball will also be held. Must be present to enter and win.
The event will be held in the Kansas Union Ballroom, 1301 Jayhawk Boulevard, and the event begins at 7:00 p.m.
