April 7, 2008 – The Kansas Jayhawk men’s basketball squad was down by nine points with about two minutes left in the NCAA Championship game. It was time to foul and hope that Memphis would struggle at the line. Coach Bill Self’s plan worked well enough to get the Jayhawks to within three with about 11 seconds left.

Then came the shot heard round the Jayhawk Nation. With about 3.5 seconds left in the game, Mario Chalmers unleashes a shot from beyond the three-point line. Swissshhhh…and the game goes into overtime! Kansas now had momentum that carried them to the final buzzer. Kansas wins in overtime 75-68!
