Nirvana Comes to KU

October 17, 1991

Grunge rock group Nirvana appears in the Kansas Union Ballroom to promote the group's best-selling album "Nevermind", released just 20 days earlier. By January the album had reached number one on the Billboard charts, eventually selling over 30 million copies worldwide.

Launching the Satellite Union

November 1, 1977

Ground is broken for the construction of the Satellite Student Union, now known as the Burge Student Union that was named in honor of Frank Burge, longtime director of the Kansas Union.

Rising For The Fallen
