Journalism School Grad to be Honored

Steve Doocy, the first DJ on the student-run radio station KJHK 90.7 FM, has been named “Distinguished Kansan of the Year.”

10151975_01hjf_tDoocy, currently a host on “Fox and Friends” on the Fox News Channel, will be honored as the “Distinguished Kansan of the Year” by the Native Sons & Daughters of Kansas at a banquet to be held on January 24, 2014, in Topeka. He first on-air stint was on October 15, 1975, when KJHK first took to the airwaves on the KU campus in Lawrence.

Before joining Fox News in 1996, Doocy worked in broadcasting in Kansas City, Topeka and Wichita. He is also the author of two books including The Mr. and Mrs. Happy Handbook (2006), a New York Times bestseller. He also released the book Tales from the Dad Side: Misadventures in Fatherhood in 2008.
