Floyd Temple, head baseball coach at KU from 1954 through 1981, passed away on June 29, 2012.

Temple achieved 438 wins in his 28 seasons at the helm of the Jayhawks and is the winningest baseball coach in KU history.

Temple’s KU career began when he played football for the Jayhawks in 1948.  He lettered two years in both baseball and football and played third base for the 1949 Big Seven Conference champions.  He led the Jayhawks to 30-win seasons in 1978, 1979 and 1981.  Coach Temple’s jersey number 13 was retired in 1982 and is the only number displayed on the Hoglund Ballpark outfield wall.
