Senior Class Gift Salutes a “Century of the Jayhawk”
For the second year in a row a KU Memorial Unions’ operation was chosen as the beneficiary of the Senior Class Gift. The Senior Class of 2012 has provided a new mosaic of the 1912 Jayhawk. It is located in the Underground Café in Wescoe Hall.
The new mosaic was installed in the vestibule at the west entrance of the recently renovated Underground Cafe over the weekend of May 4th-6th. Celebrating a century of utilizing the Jayhawk logo at KU, the mosaic features Henry Maloy’s long-legged 1912 Jayhawk, the first Jayhawk symbol adopted by the University. The mosaic is the creation of Tina Murano of Murano Studios in Wichita, Kansas.
The 2011 class gift, installed on level five and six of the Kansas Union, features framed images of the historical class banners used during commencement since 1873.
